The most frequently reported side effects of Glyciphage include diarrhoea, nausea, stomach discomfort, and symptoms of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), such as lightheadedness, dizziness, shakiness, or feelings of hunger. Serious side effects are quite uncommon and generally affect individuals with impaired kidney or liver function. The most severe side effect is lactic acidosis, which can be life-threatening. Avoid taking Glyciphage if you have kidney issues, are over the age of 80 (unless your kidneys are evaluated), are using medications for heart failure, are severely dehydrated, have a significant infection, or have a history of liver disease.
